COOK TO INSPIRE...AGAIN

From the Author:  Nessie Owen ‘In December 1992 I dislocated and fractured my back at L1 in a skiing accident. I spent the next five months ‘in rehab’ at the Spinal Unit in Salisbury. The INSPIRE team was a massive source of inspiration and encouragement to me and I remain a huge supporter. In 1998 I compiled a cook book 'Cook to INSPIRE '.  This little book is my effort to raise money for INSPIRE, which is understandably so close to my heart'.

Cook to INSPIRE...Again is our second version (June 2019) containing lots of new and delicious recipes. Stocks are now available from the INSPIRE online shop or from the office at a cost of  £7.50 each (£9.45 including postage and packing).

To order: please email: office@inspire-foundation.org.uk or call 01722 425098.  Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque, cash or call the office to pay by card.

RACE DAYS

For more information about these race days, contact INSPIRE on 01722 425098

From time to time we are invited to raise funds at various racecourses and recently have had great success at Kempton Park, Exeter and Salisbury. These days are enormous fun and can be profitable too!

The INSPIRE Rosette.  If you are a racing enthusiast, you may have seen the INSPIRE Foundation Rosettes being worn by our supporters at various racecourses in the South of England.  This simple fundraising idea was launched in 2013 and enables the public to show their support for those living with Spinal Cord Injury.  The INSPIRE Rosette seemed particularly appropriate within the equine community as so many SCI injuries are as a result of horse riding accidents

Volunteers Needed!  If you are interested in helping to fundraise by ‘selling’ rosettes for us, we would love to hear from you.  This will of course enable you to obtain a free ticket, worth at least £20 to the race meeting you choose. Click: Events

SPONSORED RUNS

Run for INSPIRE.  If you are a keen runner and seeking a worthy charity to run for, look no further!  If you can guarantee raising sufficient funds to cover your entry fee, we may be in a position to help you.  The first step is to e mail: events@inspire-foundation.org.uk giving details of your planned conquest and we will endeavour to help you.

SALISBURY MARKET STALL

Volunteers and Bric-a-Brac needed! Moving house or de-cluttering? From time to time we run our charity stall on Market Day at Salisbury. This gives us a chance to ‘fly the flag’ and make a modest profit.  If you, or a friend is moving house or wishes to pass on some of those once loved items, then we might be able to sell them on the INSPIRE stall as part of our fundraising.   We are always open to take delivery of donated items, or can come and collect. Please call the office on 01722 425098

POLO - Tedworth Park Polo Club

Zara Tindall (No 3) on the attack at Polo 2019

Zara Tindall (No 3) on the attack at Polo 2019

Annual Polo Tournament - July.  One of our major public relations and fundraising activities takes place at the annual polo tournament at Tedworth Park near Andover.

The Benney Memorial Trophy.  In recognition of the wonderful patronage of the late Mrs Janet Benney,  The INSPIRE Foundation sponsors The Benney Memorial Trophy awarded after an exhibition tournament between two celebrity teams representing the Jockeys vs the Eventers.  As well as two chukkas of polo, there is the wheel chair relay between three surprise teams which whips up the tempo prior to the Two Furlong Dash.  After prize giving at the main Grandstand,  INSPIRE's guests then withdraw to a delightful marquee for champagne and a three course lunch/auction.  In the afternoon they are at liberty to wander back down to watch more polo, firstly the Indian Cavalry Officers’ Association match and then the main event of the day the Rundle Cup between teams from the Royal Navy and Army.

Prefer to Picnic? We also offer discounted parking and Grandstand tickets for guests who would prefer to bring their own picnics rather than having a marquee lunch.

And so much more.  Our participation is part of a much bigger event along the lines of a country fair,  with arts and crafts stalls, retail outlets and many refreshment stands.  A military band plays during the afternoon, and weather permitting an Army free-fall team drops in for tea.  In all about 3,000 people attend of which approximately 200 are guests of INSPIRE.

Tickets.  We endeavour to cater for all requirements from the Marquee option,  discounted car parking only or just Grandstand tickets.

INSPIRE WINE TASTING & SUPPER, SALISBURY

Our Charity Wine Tasting & Supper will take place in the Autumn this year.  This is a lovely social gathering where Patrons, Trustees and Scientists are able to meet with the wider community and of course INSPIRE Members and Carers.  We enjoy a wide selection of excellent wines provided by Charles Steevenson Wines Ltd, one of the West Country’s leading independent wine merchants accompanied by some delicious canapés.

Timings: This evening event starts at 7.00pm, and includes a raffle and the opportunity to buy Christmas cards, cook books and much more!

Tickets.  Tickets will be on sale soon for our 2019 event.

CHERITON COTTAGE OPEN GARDEN

Each year The Lady Amherst opens up her garden at Cheriton Cottage to the public and presents the proceeds to charity. Since becoming a Patron of the INSPIRE Foundation she has generously given part of her takings to this charity. The event is well advertised in the Winchester area and supported by a local nursery who help stock and tend the garden; they are available to offer expert advice and sell plants. Afternoon tea is also available with a wide selection of delicious homemade cakes.
